Fish require sufficient oxygen for breathing needs. Oxygen should be in a state dissolved in the water, because fish can not take oxygen directly from air. Fish and other aquatic organisms, oxygen is taken without involving chemical processes.

Oxygen content can be decreased due to respiratory organisms in water and organic material removal. The cloudy weather and no wind can reduce the oxygen content in water. The minimum oxygen level for comfortably fish lives is of 3 mg per liter. If you have fish pond but the water does not contain sufficient oxygen, you need pond aerator to ensure the fish have their lives.
